History of BBC

The BBC opened its doors in August of 2013. The company was started by Rick and Deborah Stone as a booth at the Port Royal Farmer’s Market in 2013 where they sold bread and pastries baked in a mobile wood fired oven. Each Saturday lines formed for the Baguettes baked onsite at the market. Knowing the demand for fresh baked Artisan breads and pastries existed in Beaufort, their next step was a bricks and motor storefront. Rick combined his passion for breads with his knowledge garnered from 30 years as a chef to open the Beaufort Bread Company, featuring Artisan breads, pastries, homemade sausages and local products from the Lowcountry. Their three year run ended in August of 2016 with the sale of the business to Eric and Robin Staton. Rick and Deborah have once again retired to spend more time with their grandchildren.

Eric and Robin are committed to maintaining the high standards and expectations created by the BBC since its inception. Eric’s 35 years of experience in managing Pork Production Systems has taught him many things, not the least of which is the importance of locally sourced food and ingredient’s to create superior products. Robin has both Management experience and restaurant experience that serves her well in this new venture.

Eric and Robin are building upon the foundation created by Rick and Deborah and have continued the popular monthly Flatbread Night, as well as added new monthly events including Holiday Cookie decorating and a special Holiday catering preview event. Other exciting events will be coming.
